Title: When Can We Enjoy “Genshin Impact” on Nintendo Switch?
On October 11th, a热心网友 uploaded a video and images of “Genshin Impact” playing on Nintendo Switch on a forum. The news quickly sparked debate. The poster revealed that due to slow progress of “Genshin Impact” on the Nintendo Switch platform, he had to use an Android emulator to “circumvent” the issue. While the overall performance isn’t as good as this year’s top Android flagship phones, there is still noticeable improvement.
As one of the most popular mobile platform games in recent years, “Genshin Impact” gained widespread acclaim for its distinctive artwork and outstanding effects. Apart from the mobile platform, the game has been running on multiple platforms including PC, PS4, and PS5, providing players with more choices. However, in the early marketing of the game, it was announced that it would be released on multiple mainstream gaming platforms, including PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. However, due to slow development progress, many players were eager for the release.
In a recent leak, a dedicated player managed to “adapt” the mobile version of “Genshin Impact” on Nintendo Switch by using an Android emulator, though the performance was generally poor. In fact, “Genshin Impact” has been available for two years, and the developer, miHoYo, had previously promised a release on the Nintendo Switch platform, but no news has been forthcoming. This may be due to development issues, and possibly also due to a connection with Nintendo.
Nintendo Switch is not a powerful gaming handheld, especially when game optimization is poor, it often highlights its performance flaws. It is known that Nintendo Switch’s overall performance is roughly comparable to the Snapdragon 835 processor found in mobile platforms. However, since there is no actual scenario comparison between the two and Nintendo has specific game development requirements, it is unlikely that performance issues would be exposed. Nevertheless, “Genshin Impact” is already generally optimized, and if the official side were to force an adaptation, it could result in damage to both players, Nintendo, and miHoYo. Based on this reality, “Genshin Impact” is unlikely to be released on the Nintendo Switch platform in the short term.
Ultimately, Nintendo is not a company that excels in performance but rather captivates players with its strong game IPs and creative designs. Whether “Genshin Impact” will be released on the Nintendo Switch platform may not be necessary for Nintendo, but the waiting players of “Genshin Impact” will be the ones to suffer.
